The Ideal You
We are responsible for our own actions and most of us
would agree that it is extremely difficult, if not impossible to control the
actions of others.
We would probably also agree that to a large extent, we
have the power to create positive changes in our own lives that would make us
healthier, more successful, and bring more joy to our lives.
If this is true then why do so many of us fall short of
accomplishing these goals?
In order to grow stronger you must first objectively
examine your weaknesses and develop a life map, or corrective action plan to
guide you on your quest to improve or enhance your performance.
Stop for a second and take an honest look at
yourself and your life.
I often to tell my coaching clients to
"See things as they really are"
If you could create the ideal you, what would you look
like?
Write down the attributes or characteristics that the
Ideal You would possess.
As you create your list remember one thing:
People who get what they want find the courage and the
drive to go after what they want.
Did your list look something like this?
Spiritual
Healthy
Happy
Loved
Successful
Financially Independent
Popular
Organized
Productive
Courageous
Now out of all of the things that you’ve listed, which
ones can you control?
Which one will provide the greatest benefit?
Manage what you can manage and don’t worry about the
rest.
Worrying about things that you cannot control only drains your energy and takes your mind off of the things that you should be focusing on.
Worrying about things that you cannot control only drains your energy and takes your mind off of the things that you should be focusing on.
Yes, is there room for improvement?
No, what’s stopping you or holding you back?
Nobody’s perfect, but we all have good qualities and by
the same token we all possess a certain amount of bad qualities or undesirable
behaviors that we would like to change.
How is it that you are able to do so well in these areas?
Figure out what you are good at and use it to create the
Ideal You!
Do not allow your weaknesses to overshadow
your strengths.
